Today I invite you to come back on the battlefield, to reflect on the spiritual battle with our Goliaths. After all the struggle of David, his hope in the Lord and his trust in the Almighty are a good lesson for us, who lead spiritual warfare in the Earthly Valley. Reading about the struggle of David, we think about our own spiritual enemies, our victories and defeats, our struggles and temptations. Who has none? If the Lord Jesus Christ Himself was tempted (Heb. 2:18), all the more His disciples!
We fight against the devil, the world, the lust of the flesh. God has caused us “to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” (1 Pet. 1: 3)/ He gave us a new heart and a new spirit (Ezek. 26:36), however, our old nature counteracts the spirit; it is a tough struggle between the spirit and the flesh (Rom. 7: 22-23; 1 Cor. 15:31). “…For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh…” (Gal. 5:17). “A tree was cut down, but the roots remain, and new branches of sin can still grow from the root of an old tree cut down.” Sometimes the struggle intensifies, from time to time there’s a lull in fighting. But if one is maturing and striving for perfection, the struggle will never end
